This resulted in failing remote ref creation for the first ref
in some cases, as we would create .git/refs/remotes,
but not .git/refs/remotes/origin, resulting in the ref file
failing to open.

Previously, non-single-tab indentation and blank lines would
break it. Both these bugs are now fixed.
